Busy Winter Planned for Volunteers (November 2009)

busywinterplannedforvolunteersOver the course of only five weeks this coming winter, plans are in place to host 24 different volunteer groups of undergraduate and medical students at eight medical sites across Central America, South America, Africa, and Asia. Clinical activities will include assisting with the intake of patients, taking vital signs of patients, and distributing medication. Some groups will conduct house calls, while others will shadow physicians in large government hospitals. All will form lasting relationships with children and families receiving care at FIMRC’s facilities. Our volunteers’ impact will be felt far beyond the walls of FIMRC’s clinics, as activities are also planned to conduct educational health outreach to children in schools, soup kitchens, and orphanages.
