FIMRC Volunteer Service in Trujillo
FIMRC’s site in Trujillo is currently able to accommodate groups of 2-18 volunteers. Volunteer mission trips to this site generally entail spending half the volunteering time in Trujillo, with a separate visit of at least one to two full days to our site in Agallpampa. However, if your group is interested in arranging a trip primarily to Trujillo, we will be glad to accommodate your preference.
Volunteers in Trujillo perform shadowing rotations alongside Peruvian medical students in a large government hospital. Volunteers also spend time providing health education to children and families in Trujillo and may also assist in preventative health or vaccination campaigns.
Spanish proficiency is recommended, but not required by FIMRC. However, volunteers may find that any level of Spanish comprehension will enhance interactions with medical staff and patients.
The nature of the volunteer mission to Peru will vary depending on the number of volunteers in each group, the seasonal timing of the mission, the length of the volunteer trip, medical expertise and training, as well as the current needs of the community and clinic.

with your range of available dates and we will work with you to match you with an existing group. If you are interested in traveling to Peru for a longer trip of four to eight weeks, please consider the Summer International Health Fellowship Program at our project site in Huancayo. This is an annual program running for two consecutive month-long sessions to provide an immersive experience to those interested in health professions.
