2010-2011 highlights:
- Partnered with Durham Regional Hospital to spread obesity awareness and information to over 60 individuals at a state fair booth
- Held a 6-session discussion and speaker series on the biological and social aspects of maternal health. Sessions included activities, myth vs. fact quizzes, and a speaker on the family unit’s affect on child health in Haiti
- Set up tables on Duke’s Plaza to spread awareness about student chapter and decorate 45 one-sies for Duke Hospital’s Welcome Baby program, which provides new disadvantaged moms and babies with essentials such as vitamins and other resources. One-sies supplemented the packets that the Welcome Baby program gave the mothers.
- Raised $1500 for their Adopt-A-Project, Supporting a Teen Mother’s Home in Huancayo, Peru through bake sales, coordinating with local restaurants, and holding a Valentine’s Day sale and delivery of carnations
