NATIONAL PARTNERS

Michigan State University College of Health Sciences is FIMRC's flagship partner for the Comparative Health Immersion Rotation Program (CHIRP), a program providing 3rd and 4th year medical students with an intensive shadowing and volunteering experience tailored to meet academic requirements. Since 2006, MSU students have traveled for 4-6 weeks each spring to FIMRC medical sites in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Peru.

Through UIUC's Externship Program, FIMRC hosts students each year and provides them with first-hand knowledge about non-profit work and a sound understanding of FIMRC's public health efforts abroad.

As FIMRC's national language education partner, The Language Tailor provides FIMRC volunteers, alumni, family and friends discounted prices on Spanish language courses before, during, and after volunteer experiences.

FIMRC has partnered with Worldwide Risk Management (WRM) to assist in providing you with adequate international travel and medical insurance. WRM specializes in providing international health insurance to mission groups, volunteer organizations, and individuals traveling overseas for missions and humanitarian relief. In June 2011, MySpace Music became a national partner of FIMRC, crowned by a donation of ten laptops and chargers. These laptops will increase the amount of time healthcare professionals in the developing world can attend to patients due to increased efficiency and data management in addition to improved ability to accurately report medical information to their respective Ministry of Health.

Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica

Universal de Idiomas provides FIMRC volunteers in Costa Rica with customized Spanish classes, including basic Spanish instruction as well as medical Spanish and other specialties.

As FIMRC’s premier travel partner in Costa Rica, Costa Rica Undiscovered offers safe travel advice and customized travel planning for FIMRC volunteers visiting our Costa Rica site.
Project Las Delicias, El Salvador
The El Salvador Ministry of Health offers significant support to FIMRC’s efforts in El Salvador, providing personnel including a Sanitation Supervisor and a government-appointed Health Promoter. The Ministry also supports FIMRC’s health education programs and is working closely with FIMRC to train a government-certified physician.
ADESCO
As leading community development associations in El Salvador, ADESCOs support FIMRC’s community development efforts in the Las Delicias community, including community-wide water projects and health fairs.
Working to raise awareness to Third World poverty and providing assistance in whatever capacity as deemed necessary. Assistance includes construction projects, meal programs, child-sponsorships and programs providing medicine and livestock and other essentials to impoverished Third World communities.
Project Kodaikanal, India
Kodaikanal Health & Medical Services
FIMRC volunteers work closely with this hospital in Kodaikanal, where they provide medical donations and are given the opportunity to observe hospital care in India first hand.
Project Limon, Nicaragua

FIMRC coordinates closely with the Nicaragua Ministry of Health to provide health education, medical supplies, and human resources to support the Ministry’s overall objectives for the region of Tola, Nicaragua. This includes strong partnerships with government-run health clinics and hospitals as part of FIMRC’s Project Limon efforts.

The Bigfoot Spanish School provides FIMRC volunteers with on-site Spanish language courses throughout their volunteer experience at FIMRC’s Project Limon site.
Project Peru
FIMRC partners with the Peru Ministry of Health in Trujillo and Agallpampa, working closely with Ministry directors and doctors on critical information sharing and hospital donations. The Ministry also provides FIMRC volunteers with excellent access to local hospitals, where they experience healthcare in Peru first hand.

Since 2008, FIMRC has collaborated with the National University of Trujillo (UNT), to pair FIMRC volunteers with UNT students on rotation at hospitals in Trujillo.

UPAO students regularly support FIMRC's efforts in Peru, working in partnership with FIMRC staff and volunteers on community health projects in both Trujillo and Agallpampa.
Since March, 2010, FIMRC has partnered with La Gerencia Regional de Salud in La Libertad, an organization dedicated to providing a better state of health for members of the La Libertad community. Through this partnership, both La Gerencia and FIMRC hope to create a mobile health clinic to serve remote communities in La Libertad.

Medical students from the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Peru (UNCP) offer translation services and local knowledge of Peru's medical system to FIMRC volunteers.

FIMRC supports the SOS Orphanage in Huancayo, where FIMRC staff and volunteers contribute donations and offer health education lessons and English classes.
Trujillo Language School provides general Spanish programs and Medical Spanish programs in the Colonial City on the coast of Peru.
Project Bumwalukani, Uganda

For more than three years, the Arlington Academy of Hope (AAH) has served as FIMRC’s primary partner at the Bumwalukani Clinic. FIMRC works closely with AAH to provide preventive care, health education, and ongoing monitoring for AAH students and residents of Eastern Uganda.
The Uganda Ministry of Health supports FIMRC’s efforts to improve the health of children at our Bumwalukani site. This relationship was strengthened in March, 2010, when FIMRC provided significant relief support following a deadly landslide in the Bududa district of Uganda.

FIMRC partners with Peace Corps volunteers in Uganda on health outreach efforts, including the identification and training of Community Health Educators (CHEs).

Humanity First and FIMRC have partnered on landslide relief efforts in Uganda, teaming up to provide medications, staff, and a temporary clinic for landslide victims.

In response to the landslide in March, 2010, FIMRC and the Uganda Red Cross have worked closely to provide training on emergency response issues.

Through the University’s Medical Rotation Program, FIMRC hosts local Uganda medical students at our Bumwalukani clinic where they learn clinical skills and gain experience working in a rural environment.
